Harry Brook, a rising cricketing star from England, made an immediate impression in Test matches and was honored with the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for December 2022.
Harry Brook won the prize after a fantastic tour of Pakistan in December, sharing the spotlight with Babar Azam and Travis Head.
The 23-year-old, who finished the series with the most runs scored (468 in three games), was instrumental in England’s 3-0 rout of Pakistan. In Jonny Bairstow’s absence, Brook proved to be the ideal replacement for the “Baseball” strategy and slid into the middle of the order with ease. Brook’s runs were scored at a remarkable strike rate of 93.41.
The youthful player, who was taking part in just his second Test, produced scores of 153 and 87 in Rawalpindi’s first game of the series. His first-inning century came off just 116 balls as he dismantled Pakistan’s bowling lineup to establish the tone for the remainder of the series.
He went on to score 100 points in each of the final two Tests, leading England to victory in their first Test match on Pakistani soil in 17 years.
For his amazing bat skills, Brook was crowned Player of the Series. He now rounds off the year with yet another achievement as ICC Player of the Month for December 2022.
As they nervously await Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green’s health, Australia has chosen an 18-man team for the Border-Gavaskar series in India, featuring 22-year-old Todd Murphy.
Off-spinner Murphy joins Ashton Agar and Mitchell Swepson as prospective spin partners for Nathan Lyon after a promising start to his First Class career. Adam Zampa was passed over in favour of Murphy and the other members of the spin group.
George Bailey, the chairman of the Australian selectors, claims that Murphy’s selection is a compliment to both his efforts for Australia A and the Prime Minister’s XI as well as to his excellent start in Sheffield Shield play.
“Todd Murphy has made quick progress after lately making an impression with Australia A and in domestic cricket. Todd has become a strong spin option as a result of those performances.
He would benefit greatly from being selected for this group since it will provide him another chance to work with Nathan Lyon and assistant coach Daniel Vettori in India.
unlocking quickly With the announcement that Mitchell Starc won’t join the team until after the first Test as he recovers from tendon damage to his left middle finger, Lance Morris holds his spot in the squad following Australia’s home tour and has a chance to make his Test debut at least for the first Test in Nagpur.
Marcus Harris, a member of Australia’s squad for their home summer, will not be joining the touring team. Instead, batsmen Peter Handscomb and Matt Renshaw will support the top six.
Cameron Green, an all-around player, is also competing for fitness; nevertheless, after suffering a fractured right index finger during the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, Green might be able to play in the first Test.
